As-Machined (Precision Finish)
Raw finish directly from precision 5-axis CNC milling. Naturally yields smooth surface roughness (Ra 0.8–1.6 µm) while holding tight metal-like dimensional tolerances.
Stress Relief Annealing
Multi-stage thermal oven cycle performed before and during machining to eliminate internal residual stresses in PEEK stock, preventing warping during thermal cycling.
Micro Bead Blasting
Uses fine non-contaminating abrasive media to clean part surfaces and eliminate tool lines, producing a non-reflective matte texture for surgical tools and optical fixtures.
Ultra-Pure Ultrasonic Cleaning

Considerations & Limitations

  • High Material Raw Cost: PEEK resin is significantly more expensive per kilogram than standard engineering plastics like POM or ABS due to complex chemical synthesis.
  • Specialized High-Temp CNC Machining Needed: Requires specialized sharp diamond/carbide cutters, rigid clamping, and mandatory annealing cycles to prevent internal thermal stress cracks.
  • Attack by Concentrated Sulfuric Acid: While chemically immune to almost everything, PEEK can be degraded by concentrated sulfuric or nitric acid.

PEEK offers tensile strength comparable to aluminum while being up to 60% lighter. It does not rust, resists continuous heat up to 260°C, and is radiolucent (X-ray transparent), making it superior to metals for spinal implants, surgical tools, and lightweight aircraft brackets.

Extruded PEEK stock retains internal thermal stresses. During heavy milling, raw heat can cause the material to warp. We perform controlled pre-machining and post-machining annealing in temperature-calibrated ovens to eliminate residual stress, guaranteeing tight metal-like tolerances (down to ±0.01 mm).
